Call for Applications for Faculty Position in Applied Theology

Adventist University of Africa (AUA) is a Chartered University of Seventh-day Adventists (SDA) Church based in Nairobi, Kenya, established by the General Conference of SDA to provide post-graduate education in Theology, Business, Public Health, Leadership, Applied Computer Science, Education and other fields. The University seeks to deliver balanced and dynamic post-graduate education in a Christian context to prepare graduates who will provide competent leadership and service based on integrity, respect, fairness and love for church and society.

The University is looking to fill a vacancy for the position of a lecturer in the Theological Seminary to teach and direct graduate studies and research in the Department of Applied Theology.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Applied Theology and qualified to teach at graduate-level and conduct and direct field research in the area of Applied Theology. The candidate should be in the rank of at least a Senior Lecturer, willing and able to work with students and faculty from various cultures and ethnic backgrounds in an international setting; have a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing.

Required Work Experience

Be an ordained minister of the gospel and have a minimum of 5 years of ministerial experience; a holder of ministerial credentials of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and loyal to the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s message and mission, evidenced by membership and active involvement in a local church. Preferably a minimum of six (6) years of full-time teaching experience, three of which should be at the graduate level. In addition, show evidence of published research and Supervision of thesis and dissertation at the Master’s and/or Doctoral level.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teach courses in the area of Mission studies, Church Leadership and Administration, Discipleship, Church Growth and Cognate courses. Advise Master’s projects, DMin and PhD dissertations as would be assigned. Serve in thesis and dissertation committees of the Theological Seminary as would be assigned. Engage in research and community service. Perform any assigned relevant responsibilities by the University.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  1. An earned Master degree in online education, or Instructional Design, or a related field from a recognized and accredited university.
  2. An earned PhD degree in at least one of the following: Leadership, Management,
    Finance, Public Health, Computer Science, and Education.
  3. Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in online education, with a track record of
    successful program development and implementation.
  4. Have leadership and team management skills.
  5. Be able to train staff, students, and faculty on online education topics.
  6. Have an in-depth knowledge of online learning platforms and technologies.
  7. Have a passion for education and a commitment to creating exceptional online learning
    experiences.
  8. Be a Seventh-day Adventist in good standing.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute a comprehensive online education strategy in alignment with
    AUA mission and goals.
  2. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Director and relevant academic leaders to develop policies for AUA online education offerings.
  3. Oversee the development of high-quality online courses and educational content,
    ensuring they meet the standards.
  4. Collaborate with programme coordinators and subject matter experts to design
    engaging and effective online learning experiences.
  5. Implement best practices in online pedagogy and ensure continuous improvement of
    AUA online education offerings.
  6. Monitor and analyze the performance of online programmes, making data-driven
    decisions to enhance student engagement and success.
  7. Lead a team of instructional designers, content developers, and support staff to deliver a seamless online learning experience.
  8. Provide training for staff, students, and faculty on online education.
  9. Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in online education and integrate
    innovative solutions into AUA online programmes.
