Call for Papers
The Theological Seminary of the Adventist University of Africa (AUA) invites scholars, researchers, theologians, and postgraduate students to submit papers for its 6th Research Conference on the theme: “Seventh-day Adventism in Africa: Historical, Theological, and Missiological Perspectives.”
Sub-Topics to Explore
The sub-topics relevant to the theme include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Origins and Expansion of Adventism in Africa: Regional developments and historical trajectories across North, West, East, Central, and Southern Africa.
- Colonialism and Adventism in Africa: Missionary rivalry, imperial encounters, and the shaping of early Adventist missions and institutions.
- Adventism in Africa and Public Life: The Church’s engagement with political change, governance, civil conflicts, and social transformation.
- Migration and Global Adventism: African migration, cross-cultural exchanges, and the contribution of Africa to early and modern Adventism.
- Gender, Family, and Social Ethics in African Adventism: Gender roles, female religiosity, polygamy, sexual morality, and family life.
- Race, Racism, and Adventism in Africa: Critical reflections on racial dynamics, justice, and human dignity within the Adventist mission.
- Culture and Worship in African Adventism: Enculturation, music, dance, and African Traditional Religious influences in Adventist worship and theology.
- Interreligious Relations and Adventism in Africa: Engagements with Islam, African Traditional Religions, and other Christian and Pentecostal movements.
- African Adventist Theology and Hermeneutics: African interpretations of Scripture, Ubuntu theology, prophetic inheritance, and contextual Christology.
- Education and Leadership Formation in African Adventism: The role of Adventist education, private institutions, and ministerial training.
- Health and Healing in African Adventism: Approaches to health, mental wellness, and healing ministries amid plural African paradigms.
- Mission and Evangelism in African Adventism: The flow of missionary heritage, new mission strategies, and contemporary evangelistic challenges.
- Ecclesial Life and Spirituality in African Adventism: Church governance, community life, diverse ecclesial expressions, and lived faith.
- Adventism and Social Transformation in Africa: Responses to unemployment, poverty alleviation, and empowerment through faith-based initiatives.
- Faith and Leadership in African Adventism: Christian leadership models, transformational leadership, and ethical influence in society.

Publication Opportunity
Accepted papers will be considered for publication in the Pan-African Journal of Theology (https://journals.aua.ke), subject to the journal’s blind review process.

- Student: US$50 per participant
- Early Bird Registration (ends June 30): US$80 per participant
- Group Discounts (five participants from the same organisation): US$80 per participant
