Adventist University of Africa, situated in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County of Kenya, is seeking the
services of a part-time Internal Auditor to begin work immediately.

Adventist University of Africa (AUA), a Chartered Private University of Seventh-day Adventists (SDA) Church based in Nairobi, Kenya, was established by the General Conference of SDA to provide postgraduate education in Theology, Business, Public Health, Applied Computer Science, and other fields. The University seeks to deliver outstanding postgraduate education from a Biblical foundation to prepare competent leaders to serve the Church and society in a Christ-like manner.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The internal auditor shall report to the Vice Chancellor and his/her responsibilities will be to:

  1. Verify the existence of assets and recommend proper safeguards for their protection.
  2. Evaluate the adequacy of the system of internal controls.
  3. Recommend improvements in controls.
  4. Assess compliance with policies and procedures and sound business practices.
  5. Assess compliance with government laws and contractual obligations.
  6. Review operations/programs to ascertain whether results are consistent with established
    objectives and whether the operations/programs are being carried out as planned.
  7. Investigate reported occurrences of fraud, embezzlement, theft, waste, etc.
  8. Draw standard operating procedures for effective controls

Qualifications and Skills Required

The ideal candidate must have a MBA or MCom in Accounting or a Certified Public Accountant
registered in Kenya. Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in the auditing industry. The
candidate must give a detailed description of the work in auditing.
