FACULTY IN EDUCATION

Adventist University of Africa is looking for a suitable candidate for the position of a lecturer in Education Leadership or Online Education at the School of Postgraduate Studies, Department of Social Sciences.

Adventist University of Africa (AUA), a chartered University based in Nairobi, Kenya, was established by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists to provide postgraduate education in Biblical and Applied Theology, Leadership, Business Administration, Public Health, and Applied Computer Science. The University seeks to deliver outstanding postgraduate education from a Biblical foundation to prepare competent leaders to serve the Church and society in a Christ-like manner.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  1. An earned PhD degree in Educational Administration/Leadership or Online Education
  2. In addition to the PhD, the candidate must have earned a Bachelor and/or Masters degree in Education.
  3. Have a minimum academic rank of a senior lecturer or equivalent and have a track record of relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  4. Have excellent inter-personal skills and be able to work collaboratively as a team.
  5. Have leadership and team management skills, and be able to work in a multi-cultural setting.
  6. Proficient in the use of computers, educational technology and conversant with all modes of delivery and online teaching.

Required Work Experience

  1. Have a minimum of three years of experience of teaching at the university level and have a track record of successful student research supervisions.
  2. Evidence of supervision of project/thesis and/or dissertation.
  3. Evidence of membership in a relevant professional association.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop content and teach courses in educational administration/leadership or online education and related fields.
  2. Supervise student research in the areas of social sciences at both master and doctoral levels.
  3. Collaborate with the programme coordinator and subject matter experts to design and upgrade effective curriculum in the field of educational leadership.
  4. Research and publish in relevant journals and conferences.
  5. Participate in community engagement.
  6. Engage and contribute significantly to the operation and growth of the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPS), and the university as a whole.
  7. Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in educational administration.
  8. Developing industry and academic partnerships.
