The Adventist University of Africa is looking for a suitable candidate for an Old Testament faculty position in the Theological Seminary.

Adventist University of Africa (AUA), a chartered University based in Nairobi, Kenya, was established by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists to provide postgraduate education in Biblical and Applied Theology, Leadership, Business Administration, Public Health, and Applied Computer Science. The University seeks to deliver outstanding postgraduate education from a Biblical foundation to prepare competent leaders to serve the Church and society in a Christ-like manner.

 

Qualifications and Skills Required

1. An earned PhD/ThD degree in Old Testament or equivalent.
2. In addition to the PhD, the candidate must have earned a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies or its equivalent.
3. Have a minimum academic rank of a senior lecturer or equivalent and have a track record of relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
4. Have excellent interpersonal skills in a multi-cultural setting, and be able to work collaboratively as a team.
5. Endorsed by the International Board of Ministerial and Theological Education (IBMTE).

 

Required Work Experience

1. Have a minimum of three years of experience teaching at the graduate level.
2. Evidence of successful supervision of project/thesis and/or dissertation at the graduate level.
3. Evidence of membership in a relevant professional association.

 

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

1. Teach Old Testament and related biblical and theological courses at the graduate level.
2. Supervise theses, dissertations and student research in the areas of biblical studies at both master’s and doctoral levels.
3. Collaborate with the programme coordinator and subject matter experts to design and upgrade an effective curriculum.
4. Research and publish in relevant journals and conferences.
5. Actively participate in community engagement.
6. Coordinate theological seminary programs.
7. Engage and contribute significantly to the operation and growth of the theological seminary and the university as a whole.
8. Contribute to the spiritual life and mission outreach of the University.
