INCOMING VICE-CHANCELLOR

The University Council of the Adventist University of Africa (AUA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Vincent R. Injety, as the new Vice-Chancellor with effect from December 15, 2020, for a five-year term, renewable. The appointment follows a rigorous recruitment process conducted by a Search Committee instituted by the University Council on July 15, 2020. He becomes the third Vice-Chancellor since AUA's inception in 2006.

Dr. Injety, a Professor of Management, is the current President at Helderberg College of Higher Education, South Africa. He brings to the University 30 years of experience in higher education which includes ten years of lecturing and 20 years of academic leadership.

His career began as a lecturer in the faculty of Business at Spicer Adventist University in India; then MBA Director, Faculty Dean, and later as Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Solusi University, Zimbabwe. He accepted an appointment as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Helderberg College of Higher Education and was appointed as President in 2013. He served as the first on-site coordinator for the AUA student cohort at Solusi University in 2006. Currently, he is a member of the International Board of Education, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists from 2015-2020.

Dr. Injety had his primary school education to master’s degree in Adventist institutions. He is a strong believer in the value of Adventist Education. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Spicer Memorial College, Master of Business Administration from Andrews University, Doctor of Philosophy in Management from the University of Pune and Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education from the University of South Africa, Pretoria.

He was ordained to the gospel ministry in 2015. He sees his personal mission to lead people to Christ through education and empower them to stand out and be successful in their chosen careers. To this end, he has purposefully designed programs to achieve these goals.

Dr. Injety will succeed Dr. Delbert Baker, whose term officially ends on September 30, 2020, though he will continue to serve as the transitional Vice-Chancellor through the end of 2020.

AUA is the only General Conference (GC) institution of higher education located on the continent of Africa. It provides graduate ministerial and theological education and professional programs for the three SDA Divisions in Africa—East-Central Africa Division, Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division, West-Central Africa Division—and beyond to the global Church.

Dr. Injety is married to Lynda, Associate Professor at Helderberg College of Higher Education, and they have two children: Sahana, who works as a pharmacist and a college lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmacy in Canada, and Steven, who is a junior at Andrews University.
