16th March 2020

Dear AUA Students and Colleagues:

While the risk of contracting Covid-19 in the Adventist University of Africa (AUA) and/or Advent Hill remains low and there are no confirmed cases on AUA/Advent Hill, the local and global situation has continued to evolve swiftly. Accordingly, AUA administration has implemented plans regarding the way forward in the near future.

Until further notice, the AUA Campus will operate as follows:

  • All students should have vacated the AUA campus by Friday, March 20, 2020.
  • Classes will commence on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, fully online. The faculty and instructors will continue to communicate the details to the classes individually.
  • University departments will restructure their operations to ensure adequate delivery of essential services. This may include faculty and staff working from home having liaised with their respective Deans and supervisors.
  • All campus events, conferences and meetings up to the end of April 2020 are cancelled or will be rescheduled and updates may be supplied as appropriate from the event organizers.
  • • All non-essential travel has been cancelled; any persons returning to Advent Hill after travel to or through countries with coronavirus incidence are expected to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The pandemic situation in the national and international context will likely continue to change rapidly, so I encourage you to refer regularly to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Alert for updates at the University website: www.aua.ac.ke.

I am proud of the way the AUA family, in conjunction with the Advent Hill community, has unitedly and effectively worked together under the providence of God to adapt our teaching, instruction, research and services to continue our educational mission during this global challenge.
