AUA Tenth Anniversary Celebration!

AUA at Ten Jan PaulsenElder Jan Paulsen, former immediate President of the General Conference, led the Friday evening vespers. He set the pace for the weekend by giving an exposition on the Armor of God and the need to put it on. “I commend you to the Word of God. Impress it upon our people. Through it, you will know Christ, right from wrong, and experience the power of His resurrection,” Paulsen implored.

At the climax, Elder Bediako, former immediate Secretary of the General Conference, spoke during the Sabbath evening message on “Who dares to despise the days of small beginnings?” He said that the idea of AUA was born way back, not just ten years ago. He wanted the audience to understand that AUA was developed to help Africa and that the idea was planted by God Himself.

Bediako accentuated what AUA needs as a growing institution from its ‘childhood’ to ‘teenage’ years: attention and care, protection, watchful eyes, prayers, and faith in God. He encouraged the students to follow hard after Christ for “degrees are important but degrees do not win souls. We need dedicated pastors who are sold to the mission of the church, those who love lost souls.”

He passionately finished by saying “the best times are ahead of us. God will use AUA to spread the gospel.” Even though the journey had not been easy, he urged AUA to be bold for “we serve a big God. Fear not! God is with us.”

Among those that graced the celebrations were Elder Simeon Nyachae, the patron of the AUA Strategic Development Partners (SDP), Elder David Maraga, the Chief Justice of Kenya and President of the Supreme Council, Dr. Fred Matiangi, Cabinet Secretary of Education, Sarah Serem, Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission in Kenya, H.E. ambassador Elizabeth T. Jay, Embassy of Columbia in Kenya, among other dignitaries. They highlighted the fact that their workplaces were pulpits from which God had called them to minister and encouraged the audience to pray with and for those who serve in public service.
